Reminiscing on God's Character.
An Introduction to the 17 Attributes of God + Free Workbook to Explore More
When we meet someone intriguing for the first time, such as a fine-looking man who asks us on a date, we naturally desire to learn everything about our potential spouse, like where he lives, what he does for a living, his favorite food, all his likes, and dislikes, etc.
As the relationship blossoms into marriage, a woman’s excitement deepens as she embraces the joy of bonding with her new husband, and learning fresh and meaningful ways to bring Him satisfaction and joy.
This zeal we feel towards a potential groom should be matched and even surpassed in our devotion to God. Why? Because
Our Designer is worthy to be known and praised, for His well-deserved glory and our ultimate fulfillment.
That’s precisely why I’ve crafted this workbook: “ Know You Designer: 17 Attributes of God Every Christian Women Must Know” to help God’s daughters become more knowledgeable of their Father and, thus, themselves.
Here’s a shocking truth: We’ll never come to full knowledge of God while residing on this side of life.
Scripture teaches us that our understanding of God is currently limited. However, in the future, when we’re with Him (when we’re in the right condition to understand and appreciate His vastness), all will be clear.
"For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." 1 Corinthians 13:12
However, while we’re waiting, there’s so much of God’s character that He has revealed to us through scriptures, historical events, and personal testimonies.
How to Make the Most of the Workbook
To make the most of this workbook, i.e., to reach a more heightened knowledge of your Father and, thus, yourself, I recommend following these four effective steps:
Know His Attributes
The 17 attributes that I covered aim to kickstart a foundational understanding of the qualities of God. Utilize this knowledge to
cultivate an intimate relationship with Him.
engage in meaningful prayers, calling upon His heart (character).
Increase your trust and confidence in Him.
Recite the Affirmations
Reciting the affirmations accompanying each attribute helps to reinforce our understanding of God and the relationship we share with Him.
They aim to shift any negative perception we may have about God to cultivate a positive and truthful image of Him.
Practice the Exercise:
At the end of each chapter, you’ll find exercises crafted to help you know God’s heart on a personal level.
Pray as You Learn:
After you explore each attribute, end with a prayer. I concluded each chapter with a written prayer, but feel free to adapt the prayers to make them more personal.
It’s a Delight!
The most beautiful part of pursuing God is that He takes full delight in our quest for Him. He longs for His daughters to pursue and dwell with Him.
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."- Revelation 3:20
"The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth." - Psalm 145:18

Bonus attribute
Here’s a brief snippet starting with the astounding self-existence nature of God.
Dear Father,
We thank You for who You are.
There is no one in heaven or on Earth greater than You, Our Great Designer.
Thank You for granting us this wonderful opportunity to know Your character.
Time and time again, You have shown us that You are faithful, holy, and worthy to be known. Thank You for opening our eyes to Your timeless wisdom.
Lord, we don’t only want to know who You are, but we yearn to experience You intimately.
Lord, reveal within our hearts any unrighteous ways that could be hindering our desire to know and follow You wholeheartedly.
Strengthen us so we don’t succumb to temptations and falsehood concerning Your glorious character, will, and our chosen position in Your eternal plan.
Father God, may we take what we’re about to learn seriously, utilizing each of your attributes to nurture an intimate connection with You.
Instill within us a spirit of calm, humility, and reverence as we explore Your Heart.
Once more, we are thankful for who You are, and we pray that each of our lives shines radiantly, drawing others to Your truth.
In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
The Uncreated Designer: The Self-Existence of God
Definition
The self-existence of God means that He exists all on His own, without depending on anything or anyone to sustain Him.
Our God doesn't need any external source or cause to exist.
Rather, He exists by His nature and power.
He is the First Cause, the Uncreated Creator. Everything else exists by Him, and CANNOT exist without Him.
He is what He told Moses, “I AM ”.
Bible Verses to Reflect on
John 3:16: “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”
Exodus 3:14: "God said to Moses, 'I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: "I am has sent me to you."
Acts 17:24-25: "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else."
Affirmations to Strengthen
My Lord is self-existent. He exists by His own will and power.
My Lord is independent. He doesn’t need anything or anyone to sustain Him. Rather, I need Him.
My Lord is the ultimate sustainer and provider of life. He causes everything in creation, including me, to depend on Him.
Faith in Action
I want you to meditate on Exodus 3:14, and consider what the phrase “I am” reveals about God’s existence and eternal nature.
How does it make you feel knowing you serve a God who is self-existent?
Closing Prayer
Dear Father,
We thank You for Your self-existent nature.
You are the great “I am”, the great Alpha and Omega who is, who was, and yet to come.
Thank You, Father, for creating Your wonderful creation. We’re glad to be your beloved daughters.
Lord, strengthen us to serve You with this wonderful life You have given us.
Even when we can’t fully grasp your divine character on this side of life, help us to trust that You have our best interest at heart.
In Jesus’ great name, I pray, Amen.
