The Sunshine Blogger Award in which I answer a few questions.
Get to know me a little bit through these fun questions.
So, the Sunshine Blogger Award has been going on for quite some time now, and I'm honored to be a part of the scoop (recognition). The Sunshine Blogger Award was launched to recognize and encourage participation among bloggers and writers on Substack. I’m a fan of it because it helps writers support one another’s work.
First, I would like to deeply thank
of , and of for nominating me. I truly enjoyed reading both of your answers. Man! We have so much in common. We’re attracted to the same cottage core aesthetic and share a similar writing method ( I just gotta put pens to paper when I'm trying to expose my deepest, most scrambled thoughts). For the writers whom I'll be nominating (see names at the end), these are the rules of the award. It's very easy:
Thank the person who nominated you and add backlinks to their blog.
Answer the 10 or 11 questions they posed to you.
Nominate another 10 or 11 bloggers and ask them 10 or 11 questions.
Include these rules in your post and use the Sunshine Blogger Award Logo
Since both Melody and Ali nominated me with a total of 21 questions, I’ve decided to dedicate this single newsletter to answer their questions.
The Questions from Melody
Why do you write about what you write about?
I write mostly to encourage godly femininity and womanhood. The most beautiful thing we can do as women is to live for God’s glory. And I feel so many of us don’t know what that means, or how to live it out, especially in today’s culture where women are told to dress immodestly, hate men, be entitled, and prioritize career over everything else. So I write to expose those falsehoods and to remind women, especially Christian young women, that their identity should be placed in Christ, and that we ought to live and conduct ourselves in such a way that brings Him honor. Also, I consider my desire to write as a gift from God, so another reason I write is to glorify Him.
2. When did you first decide that you wanted to be a writer, and what led you to that decision?
Well, I fell in love with reading way before I fell in love with writing. I used to read a lot when I was a child. It was not until my early twenties that I began writing more consistently. I first started with journaling, then blogging for a short period of time, and now Substack. I decided to write because it felt heavy on my heart to share my thoughts and God’s truth with women out into the world. Plus, writing is very therapeutic, and your work may live on for years. I hope to author a great book one day.
3. What is your dream job?
My dream job is to help run a thriving family business with my future fam. I would like to publish a book or two. And I want to give back to my community in Jamaica, particularly concerning maternal health.
4. Rabbits or hamsters? (Because cats versus dogs is too basic!)
I guess rabbits, they’re so cute.
5. If you could only use Substack, Spotify, or Pinterest, which one would you use and why?
Lol, those are my top favorite apps. But I would choose Substack because I get to write, read incredible posts, meet new friends, and be part of a wonderful community of like-minded individuals.
6. Gel pens or colored pencils?
Gel pens. They’re so dainty, especially the ones with fine points.
7. What is your favorite flower?
I’m gonna choose two. I love roses and sunflowers. They are so beautiful and evoke two different emotions. I love roses because they’re feminine and intimate, and I adore sunflowers because they remind me to always look at the bigger, brighter picture, i.e., eternity with my Father.
8. Do you prefer to write by hand or type?
Perhaps typing as it’s more time efficient. But I usually do both. I especially write with my hands for personal journaling or whenever I’m trying to unscramble what my heart is feeling.
9. What is your favorite book (besides the Bible), and why?
True Woman 101: True Woman 101: Divine Design: An Eight-Week Study on Biblical Womanhood by Mary a Kassian and Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth. I love that book because it taught me what it means to be a true woman of God. The book is biblically grounded, and unlike any other Christian books on the topic of biblical womanhood I’ve ever read. It was truly a valuable resource during those early years of my faith.
10. What is your favorite book of the Bible?
The Gospel of John. It’s my favorite because it captures the heart and life of Jesus so well. Plus, it highlights the intimate and inseparable relationship Jesus shares with the Father, and also hosts two of my favorite bible verses (John 14:6 and John 10:29-30)

Alright, let’s move on to Ali’s questions.
The Questions from Ali
1. What’s the story behind your blog's name?
My publication name is “Faithful & Feminine.” I chose that name because it’s a living, breathing description of the woman I try to be every day: faithful( and obedient) to God, and feminine (and virtuous) in my conduct.
2. What’s one thing you wish you knew before starting?
Some readers are watching silently. They might not comment on my posts, but they’re taking in what I have to say, and I’m hoping that whatever I put out resonates and encourages them.
3. Morning bird or night owl?
I’m a night owl, though I would better describe myself as flexible. When I have work and assignments to complete in the morning, I wake very early with pleasure. But right now I’m hitting the bed around 1 am/2 am. It’s gonna change pretty soon, though.
4. Favorite post you’ve written?
I enjoyed working on The Death of Femininity | Exposing the Signs. It’s an in-depth post where I talk about biblical femininity and the visible signs of its decline. I learned a lot from the post. It brought me back to Femininity 101.
5. If your blog were a person, what would their personality be?
Wow, what a question! If my blog were a person, she would be faithful and feminine. She would be an unashamed believer in Jesus. She would be humble, kind, intelligent, and respectful. She would be adventurous and creative. She would be willing to help others in need.
6. What do you wish your reader knew about you?
I looove eating delicious, healthy food. I’m also a little science nerd. My educational background is in Biotech and Public Health.
7. Who or what first inspired you to write?
I felt convicted to write around 4-5 years ago. The grace of God, personal experiences, and the passion to support and encourage other women propelled me to write.
8. If you had to publish one of your saved drafts, which one would you choose and why?
Currently, in my draft, I’m working on an eye-opening topic on how modern feminism particularly harms black women. It should be very interesting.
9. If your blog had a theme song what would it be?
The King is Coming by Nathaniel Bassey, one of my favorite gospel artists. I chose that song because it is beautifully composed, spiritually enriching, and encourages brides to be ready for the Groom’s return.
10. What’s one of your “if I ever write a book, this will be the title” titles?
I can’t think of a title as yet, but I know it’ll intersect faith, femininity and culture.
11. What does your dream future look like
My dream/ideal future includes: being married to a kind and God-fearing man, with 2-4 children living in a beautiful home that has tons of green space in the backyard (for play, gardening, jerking chicken, etc); being a present mother, supporting the family business, and continue encouraging women with my writing/books. I also see myself being active at church, giving back to my native community, and having the time to garden and travel.
Writers I Am Nominating:
If you’ve already been nominated, you don’t have to answer these questions (though it would be cool to hear your responses to my specific questions. Nevertheless, I still wanted to let you know that I’m a big fan of your work.
